This guide serves as a comprehensive resource for show-giving clubs to understand and anticipate the needs of judges they host. It is not a contract but rather a set of recommendations to facilitate smooth interactions between clubs and judges.

The preparation of this CDJA guide to the conduct of oral exams in breeds approved by the CKC was inspired by a similar guide published by the American Kennel Club.

The Canadian Dog Judges Association presents the following guidelines to elevate the quality of breed seminar presentations. These suggestions emphasize the presentation format, recognizing that presenters are breed experts who inherently understand the essential aspects of the breed necessary for effective judging.

It is the responsibility of all Judges to be familiar with all CKC rules as contained in Conformation Show Rules and in the Guidelines for Conformation Judges. The answers offered in this booklet should in no way preclude the authority of the CKC’s CSR and Guidelines but only to clarify their intent.
