Biography
I started my own obsessive journey in dogs in 1976 at a local show when our family Dane won a massive 4 point win. I had worked all summer conditioning and grooming and I was hooked. It was 10 years later as a second generation dog breeder and fifth generation stock person that my journey started in cavaliers the breed I am best know for . The Halfmoon prefix became permanent in 1994 and best in show winners bred and owned by us followed in the decades that follow in three colours as well as 91 champions in Canada and 18 AKC champions first with my late partner L.Garrett Lambert and now with my current partner Don aka The Tall one. Through a very limited breeding program we continue to work on that elusive best in show black and tan despite having won the AKC National with a veteran of that colour in 2022. I have also bred and owned champions in Great Danes, havanese,mini long hair dachshunds and smooth fox terriers. As a handler i handled to championships and beyond, dogs from 89 different breeds and from all 7 groups. I have lost of that count of champions after a flood destroyed boxes of results and records. . I proudly trimmed, stripped, conditioned, scissored all my charges doing my best to present them as closely to what the standards required. Would I do it again ..absolutely. From starry eyed youngster, to breeder , to handler, to mentor, my journey continues as a judge with my hand still firmly involved in breeding on a smaller sca hope that my experience and the knowledge shared with me guides my eye and my hands in the ring.In addition to Canada I have judged in the USA, Australia and New Zealand NZ at both specialities and All breed shows.
